We live in a world of the victorious simulacrum. Meaning has been lost, but we also live in a time overpopulated with truths and narratives. The only reasonable activity is to be swallowed by the information surrounding you.

The point of my art is that, while creating it, I purposely try to switch off my mind and let my body become a pure source of the collective unconscious visions that I receive daily through my feed. These visions are not even universal, since my information bubble is designed specifically for my age, gender, and socioeconomic status.

Each day, consuming hundreds of kilobytes of information, I return it to the world by passing it through the meat grinder of my visual interpretation. It is pure artistic mincemeat.

I do this because I identify with H. P. Lovecraft’s vision when he wrote:

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

It is Lovecraftian to be bathed in information daily, as we are. It is Lovecraftian to live in a world of lost meaning. So the only reasonable thing you can do is get in touch with the unconscious.
